When the Vice President candidate and a SNL actress are compared often- one would start to wonder. Countless Saturday Night Live spoofs have been made with Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. News reports have even been covering Sarah’s appearances on the comedy show. They discuss how the real interview and the SNL fake interview had a lot in common. When two respectable CNN reporters laugh about the similarity between the real and the fake, that’s not a good sign. Palin should probably be worried that she is as credible as SNL. Granted that Palin has only had a couple month of experience, it seems as though she as prepared as Tiny Fay in answering important questions. We can’t dismiss that Biden has gotten a lot less negative spot light, but he has years of experience in the field. Many of Tina Fay’s impersonations make people laugh- but then again so does Palin. Her running in circles, repeating herself, and talking about Alaska is not taking her very far. If Sarah Palin wants to become more successful in this campaign she needs to:
1. At least sound like she knows what she’s talking about
2. Talk about other things besides Alaska
3. Be as welcomed as Tina Fay
With those things done I’m sure Sarah Palin’s thoughts and opinions will help John McCain win the 2008 Presidential election.

Facebook Surge≠Voting Surge
Election time has come around the bend. Everyone is getting excited about casting his or her vote at the polls. Even teenagers are going to show up in record numbers, so they say. An article in the Chicago Tribune expects young voter turnout to surge.
What do I think? I think it's all a load. Facebook and Youtube are the reasons for the expected smorgasbord of young voters this election.
First off, the primary reason for involvement on those sites is because of their convenience. That's right, convenience. These teens seem to be getting more involved, but they are actually just sitting at their computer passing the time. Come election time, these same teens will be found in or around their couch.
Yeah, I know what you might be thinking. "Isn't he just being cynical?" I obviously don't think so. I'm writing this blog right? Idealistic society aside, do you really think a bunch of teenagers are going to show up because they use Facebook a lot? If there was a way to cast your vote on Facebook, every teen and his mom would vote. Once you add in a drive to a poll and a wait in line, the grass on that side looks worse no matter which side you're on.
Even absentee ballots are a turnoff. Some teens don't know that the postal service is still in business. E-mails are beginning to seem outdated by the youth's standards, of course mail is a turnoff.
Either a new way of voting (online) needs to be fine tuned or the youth are just going to stay home and post blogs about the results.

I'll Drink To That!
With the election in clear sight, candidates and running mates are on their best game, right? As interviews and debates pass by, I wouldn’t be too sure with John McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin. Not only does Sarah Palin catch the public’s eye for being the first woman vice presidential candidate, but with her experience- or lack of it. How can voters feel good about a future leader when she can’t answer simple questions? To cut to the chase, Sarah seems to have an issue answering questions asked for her, and for her age she sure does repeat herself a lot. Although politicians usually play the dancing around the question game, Sarah Palin has made a name for herself by doing that. In a recent interview with Katie Couric, our possible future vice president could not list one newspaper she‘s read in Alaska, but could tell us she’s read “All of them …any of the ones put in front of me”. After the debate aired many spoofs were made about Palin. To the interest of many college students, a drinking game was created for watching the debate. From taking a chug for when she says “Thanks, but no thanks” to chugging a whole bottle if she mentions Palin Presidency (Ha Ha). This is comical - but how can you support someone who has been made into such a joke?

Irrelevant news!
In a county where the Stock Market is crashing and people are losing their jobs and money, the media releases stories about the most important events and updates right? Recent video clips released by Fox News show the ridiculous stories that news channels are concentrating on. With all of the controversial issues about how to fix all of the problems with the economy that has developed, why do they need to issue stories about a presidential candidate in a bathing suit? Why does is matter if Obama smokes cigarettes? Yes, it is an awful habit to get into, but millions of his voters do it as well. There are a ton of interviews and speeches to report on. Because of stories like these, if you type in Obama on Youtube you find a number of videos of people asking if they believe Obama is a terrorist Every one of them say yes. Yes they think that because of his name that he is "a one person terrorist group". One women was carrying an Obama doll, her child said that you needed "gloves to touch him". Fox, as well as all the other news channels, should not be reporting stuff like this. The allegation that he is “such as big deal because is he black” may actually be partially true, but that is not why he was chosen. The election of the first black president would be an amazing step towards the end of racism. Why should this issue not be raised when Fox is reporting that Obama went to a Muslim school, which was later found to be completely misleading? They assumed that since he did not go to a "normal" American school that he went to a Muslim school. I think that these kinds of stories should not be published about things that affect the entire country like the presidential campaign.
Vice Presidential Debate
Right from the start of the 2008 Vice Presidential debate Sarah Palin came off as fake. She looked as if she was trying too hard to prove the critics that say she is not experienced enough wrong. Her persistent use of the phrase “You’re darn right!” combined with her sketchy way of avoiding questions does not help her case. As a female, I think that having a woman this high up in the government is a great thing. Still, I think that Palin is incompetent for this position. I do not think that she has enough political experience to be able to run this country. I too think that it is smart of Palin to recall her experiences in Alaska to prove that she has done some great work for the state, but when she starts to use this as the answer to most questions then it becomes obvious that this is all that she has done. Palin did not seem unprepared, as is insinuated in this article, she just seemed nervous. She talked about energy a lot and would not let questions go. When the moderator would move on and ask other questions, Palin would keep bringing up the previous topic and would not answer. It was blatantly obvious that she knew so much to say about these certain questions and not enough about others so to some it came off as unprepared. I think that she is too eager to show that she is not the things that the media is saying so she comes off as a little pompous and naïve.
